Open Mic Comedy Contest

This could be your big break!

The CBC Open Mic Comedy Contest is back to kick-off the HubCap Comedy Festival, and we want to hear you stand and deliver your funniest material.

Competition day is
Wednesday, February 6th
at the Pump House Brewery.

To enter for a chance to compete live on stage, send us your contact information (name, address and phone) plus a link to a short excerpt of your funniest material (suggested length 2 minutes) via youtube. Or, you can call us to record your material on our Talkback Line:

Deadline to enter is noon on Thursday, January 17th 2013.

Online voting takes place from 6 a.m. Monday, January 21st until noon on Friday January 25th.

The top ten amateur comics will move on to the live competition on stage at the Pump House Brewery February 6th.

Details:

Contest is open to all (funny) Maritime residents.
Deadline for submission is Thursday, January 17th at noon
If you’re voted into the Top Ten for the stage competition:
Your stage routine should be no less than three minutes and no longer than seven minutes. (points will be deducted for going under or over your time allocation).
All material must be original content only. Competitors will be disqualified for using non-original material (i.e. other performers jokes or internet jokes)
The contest starts February 6th at 7 pm, but Contestants need to check in at 6:30 p.m.
Material will be judged on originality, stage performance and audience response.
CBC 106.1 FM will broadcast highlights, so keep it clean.
Along with bragging rights, the winner will receive a promotional gig with the pros during the HubCap Comedy Festival on Saturday, February 9th.
Winners will be awarded tickets to various HubCap Comedy Festival shows.
